Skeeta Foiling Dinghy

The Skeeta is the very latest, ‘3rd Generation’ foiling dinghy that incorporates all-round performance. Thanks to Skeeta Foiling Craft, who designed the boat, sailors now have the option to foil safely and comfortably in a wide wind range on a boat which is stable and user friendly in displacement mode whilst being fast, exciting and capable of foiling manoeuvres when up in the air.
I’d love to say I’ve sailed in a Skeeta, but sadly I haven’t so we’re relying on information from their website and the UK distributor for general information. Basically, it’s a high performance foiling dinghy that’s been designed with ease of sailing in mind. The Skeeta comes with the option of 3 rig sizes for all sailor weights and conditions: 7.2m², 8.5m² and 9.5m²
- Excellent performance on the foils. Can tack and Gybe and reach speeds of well over 20 knots.
- Can be launched and recovered easily and you can sail comfortably and easily in displacement mode.
- Class still building so only 20 odd boats in the UK (more and more being sold however)
The Scow Hull
The iconic scow shape has been around for many generations. Skeeta’s hull shape has been optimised for displacement sailing and foiling through more than 50 years of in-house scow development by Jim French and Dr Ian Ward. The low deck height makes it incredibly easy for people of all ages to be able to get on board quickly and safely. The cockpit area also has padded EVA foam for comfort and grip.
Skeeta’s foiling system is a culmination of more than 20 years’ development with freely-pivoting foils. The foiling system provides low drag and minimises the risk of crashes experienced by most other foiling systems. At the heart of the control system is a fully-retractable bow wand, which provides unparalleled control and versatility. All this means there is no need to adjust the rudder’s angle of attack whilst sailing.

Skeeta Portsmouth Yardstick
The Portsmouth Yardstick is used to calculate the performance of mixed classes of boats in a handicap race. The lower the PY the faster the boat. For illustration – a Dart 18 has a PY of 832, a Laser 1 ILCA7 has a PY of 1100 and a Topper has a PY of 1365. More information and later PY numbers can be found here – RYA PY
- SKEETA PY number is currently UKNOWN

If you can't find one here... try eBay
It might not be the first place that springs to mind when buying or selling a dinghy - but it's definitely worth looking. We've found some great boats on eBay. My last Topper Topaz Race X came from eBay and it was £400 cheaper than similar elsewhere. Click the banner below to browse the latest listings. People sometimes don't know precisely what it is they're selling ... try a few searches using different phrases. Start with the obvious - CLASS - eg. Laser or Topper or SuperNova etc.
