The 2000, designed by Phil Morrison, is a modern double-hander with a spacious cockpit and forgiving handling. Originally launched as the Laser 2000, it remains a favourite among sailing schools, clubs and families thanks to its stability and ease of use.
Rigged with mainsail, jib and asymmetric spinnaker, the 2000 offers a great balance between accessible cruising and exciting performance, making it ideal for both beginners and experienced helm and crew combinations.

With a Portsmouth Yardstick of around 1118, the 2000 delivers balanced all-round performance. It is well-suited to mixed fleet racing while remaining stable and forgiving enough for training and recreational sailing.
